About Us
Emmanuel Baptist Church started as a mission in the Valley, Virgin Gorda, in the late 60’s early 70’s by Pastor Billy Lipsy of North Carolina. After some time and much prayer a piece of land was purchased in 1990 and in 1998 Bishop John Cline of the New Life Baptist Church was approached for financial aid to build the church. Bishop Cline agreed to assist and when the sanctuary was completed in 2000.Bishop Cline installed Pastor Kenneth Gilbert of New Life Baptist Church as the new pastor. He remained as Pastor until 2002 at which time Pastor Albert Wheatley was installed, and served eight (8) years until 2010.Pastor Gregory Smith of New Life Baptist Church was appointed and installed as Pastor from 2010, and is still serving in that capacity. The Emmanuel Baptist Church is a branch of the of New Life Baptist Church.
